These simple Windows 8 keyboard shortcuts eases your Windows 8 experience and makes it much more enjoyable especially if memorized:
  • Press the Windows key to open the Start screen or switch to the Desktop NB. This key acts as the conventional start key in Windows 7 and Windows XP
  • Press the Windows key + D to open the Windows Desktop NB No matter how many different windows are open, using this shortcut will quickly show you the desktop window.
  • Press the Windows key + . to beautifully and easily pin and unpin Windows apps on the side of the screen.
  • Press the Windows key + X to open the power user menu, which gives you access to many of the features most power users would want. NB Right-click in the bottom-left corner (or hold down the Windows key and press X) for a text-based menu that provides easy access to lots of useful applets and features: Device Manager, Control Panel, Explorer, the Search dialog and more.
  • Press the Windows key + C to open the Charms.
  • Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings, which is the same Settings found in Charms.
  • Press and hold the Windows key + Tab to show open apps.
  • Press the Windows key + Print screen to create a screen shot, which can be accessed from My Pictures folder.
